Hi,

the MPC5606S MCU will not be able to give you good performance in a 800x480 resolution environment. This part was designed for displays of 480x272. But MPC5645S can be best option.

The MPC5606S can technically drive a WVGA but it is above the normal expected size for the part so it’s very hard to say if it is suitable or not. For sure MPC5645S is better fits for this size of application. The concerns I have with MPC5606S would be:
1. Pad drive strength – should be fine but will need careful design
2. Graphic memory option is limited to one QuadSPI at 48 MHz and a share of the internal 1 MB flash and RAM is limited to 160 kB internal
3. Performance is limited to two plane blending at full graphics depth for a 32 MHz panel. For high frequency blend will be on average less than 2 for full depth
So it depends on the quality and size of graphics that are required more than providing signals to the panel. If they are able to use lots of 8bpp and transparency graphics then they will be in better shape than using 16/24/32bpp graphics. If there are limited screen choices then again storage of graphics will be less of a concern.

Regards,

Lukas
