Hi,
I am using the TRK-MPC5606B Board for a project I am working on.
I would like to be able to utilize the DB-9 port on the board for serial communication. I noticed the U5 spot on the board is missing a transceiver for RS-232, so I cannot utilize RS-232 communication using this board.
I was considering buying a transceiver, but as you can see in the image below, the schematic says do not populate. Is the schematic saying that the transceiver shouldn't be populated before distribution, or the transceiver should never be populated for any reason?
My end goal is to communicate with a joystick, as of right now the joystick I purchased can communicate over RS-232. If there are any other ideas to communicate with a joystick (preferably wireless), please feel free to suggest ideas!
Hello,
do not populate does not restrict the assembly of the transceiver, it only says, the transceiver is not required or it is optional. You can definitely buy the transceiver and solder it by your own..
Regards,
Martin
