MPC5748G Ethernet Port in PHY Mode?

Hi all,

is it possible to configure one of the MPC's ethernet-ports to "PHY" mode? We want to connect a MAC device via the Mii interface to the Calypso... Unfortunately I can only find information of how to run the Calypso in MAC Mode, in the manual.

Thank you in advance

Michael

Main difference between MAC and PHY MII mode is the clock generation? The Calypso should be able to generate the RX and TX clock.

Hi,

What do you mean by “PHY” mode?

The MPC5748G includes just MAC device (ENET module) which can be connected with external PHY via MII interface.

External Ethernet controllers (MAC or MAC+PHY) are usually connected with the MCU over parallel external memory interface, which is not available on the MPC5748G.
