Is it possible to erase BAF in MPC5748G device?

Hi, at our side we faced very unusual problem with the MPC5748G devices. When we were working on bootloader for these devices, somehow BAF flash area in 2 of 2 devices involved in testing got vanished (Lauterbach reads 0xFF, device stuck in reset escalation mode after boot, even if valid application is flashed).

Now I have the following questions:

  • How is this possible? We are using SSD to work with MPC5748G flash area.
  • If the above is possible, is it possible to program again this area?

We would like to recover these devices, since replacement will be long and costly, because they are on the target boards, not on EVB.

Hello Aleksandar,

for some reasons, the BAF is not in ROM but rather in flash. I guess it could be changed in the new silicon version which should be available later this year. So, it's possible that it can be erased.

Attached you will find recovery script for Lauterbach debugger.

Regards,

Lukas

Hello,

try the calypsoBaf file, it should be able to recover your BAF section.
