Unused NTC connections MC33775

Are there any hardware considerations for unused NTC/GPIO connections on the MC33775  or MC33774 ?

I found useful information for using the mentioned chips with less than 14 cell measurements, do unused GPIO pins need to be biased with hardware or just the registers disabled in software?

It's a good practice to either configure the GPIO pin as an input and use a pull-up or pull-down resistor to provide a defined voltage level when the input is not connected, or configure the GPIO pin as an output and set it to a known state.
