Hello Team
I'm trying to use UART to communicate with the RT1176 MCU, using USB by using the LPUART pins below in the picture.
Can I use USB 2.0 to UART MCP2200 chip for this task? Also is this chip supported from your software side? if not what you recommend please?
Regarding the boot I'm trying to boot only using QSPI flash W25Q128JW.
Big Thanks
LPUART and USB can be used on serial downloader, in that mode you will be able to communicate with the bootloader of the device being able to write/erase flash however to enter boot you will manually need to input the parameters.
To boot from QSPI you will need to use internal boot or boot from fuses, more details on the boot process please refer to system boot chapter on the Reference Manual.
The boot_cfg and boot_mode pads are needed for the system to work properly as the bootloader takes the state of the pins at boot to have information of the boot device. Boot_cfg pins can be replaced by the fuses but I do not suggest burn fuses until you are completely sure of the configuration as fuses cannot be re-burning.
Best regards,
Omar
Hi,
there is a reference design RT1176-EVK and the schematic can be downloaded. This might help.
Hello Marek
In the reference manual shows many options to boots from. For my design I want to boot only from QSPI, and as you can see from the attached picture below, it shows many resistors needs to be used and Im trying to make my circuit smaller. So Im trying to avoid this method and boot using QSPI only using UART. Please advice.
Could you please remove my name from the previous replay.
Thanks ahead for your support
Hi,
sorry, I'm not HW engineer, so I cannot help more. You posted your question about "RT11xx" processor to forum related for "MCX" family of microcontrollers. I'd recommend posting to forum for i.MX RT1xxx processors, maybe someone can help there.
I removed your name from previous post.
