MCXN947, voltages domain!

Dears, how are you all doing? I hope you are doing great!

So;

As this processor line is reasonably new, I so much, understand some lack of information!

But there are some pieces of information that shouldn't be so hided!

I was picking some information from the MCXNx4x user manual, and couldn't assure some details!

The uC has lots of VCC_ inputs, because of professional osmosis, I assumed that those VCC_ are for sourcing compatible operational voltages for the peripherals multiplexed to certain ports!
Until there, it is absolutely understandable!
But the terminology - Voltage domain, is week applied to the documents!

For example, I was looking for some information about the RTC:

• Deep Power Down: Down to 2.0 μA, 5.3 ms wake-up (RTC enabled 8 KB RAM and Reset pin enabled, @25 C).

There is no kind of information correlated to RTC by himself!

As, the RTC backup battery, also is used to supply the voltage to the PORT5.
1 - The PORT5, when the system has the main VCC_ have some kind of internal redundancy for supplying the working voltage, or not, the working voltage is assumed as backup battery, only, and because of that we have to put that (stupid MIS-projected) external diode assembly for redundancy between mains power VCC and backup battery, for non having consumption from the battery when the system working voltage is present! I understand by the UM that the PORT5 have important hardware, for example the needed one for RTC clock crystal frequency generation, but what about the other (no sense in this condition) hardware?
Willn't they drain the battery, how to work with that and so on?

Could, someone, please, helping me on figuring out where to find some more precise information??

I'm willing to swap the LPC1768 by this processor, as the EOL is about 2027/2028!

Sincerely!

Fábio.;

Hi,

Pls refer to section Chapter 35 Power Management

xiangjun_rong_0-1736909642690.png

As the above power domain description, the voltage of VDD_BAT power supply provides logic voltage for PORT5 pins.

These are the modules which the VDD_BAT provide power.

Unfortunately, there is not the other public doc which describes the power part for MCXN94x.

Hope it can help you

HI @xiangjun_rong

I thank you so much for your prompt answer!

Dear!

I hope that NXP keep being that very precious technical supplier and manufacturer!

I'm a NXP partner about 14 years, using just and only NXP product, but, recently, I could figure out some bad information!

Is like, like, So - our clients have to have crystal ball for understanding how to deal with it, by GHG technic (go horse go)!

No, don't be like it! The UM from LPC processors are, in my opinion, the best UM for ARM processors, I never, EVER, had to deal with the manufacturer or forums just to understand something that should be absolutely documented and placed or in datasheet or UM!

Please dear, give that feedback to the technical support personal, don let the ball fall!

Sincerely!

Fábio (Brazil, medical sector consumer).
