Please ignore my last reply. You are correct. As noted in point 9 of your screenshot:
If VIN is greater than VDD_Px_MIN (= VSS - 0.3 V) or is less than VDD_Px_MAX (= VDD_Px + 0.3 V), then there is no need to provide current-limiting resistors at the pads. No current limitation is required because, within this voltage range, the internal protection diodes can effectively protect the pins.
