Dear all

I am trying new SDK with new IDE , both v24.12.0, use RT1024-EVK, however, when i install new SDK, it overwrite the old v2.12.0, which is my current projects based on and works with v11.8 IDE, I wonder whether it is possible that my new IDE use a different SDK location, that is not interfere with existing SDK? I will update it when I am totally happy with new one.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @ping1

Thank you for contacting us.

Would be possible for you to try the Enable SDK/manifest versions swith option. You should  be able to install different versions of an SDK, when  this option is enabled.

If you are getting troubles to get the two versions , please report them to me,  along your OS. Please to reestart the MCUXpresso IDE, after enabling this option, a computer restart will do the job.

This option is under Preferences, please take a look at the below figure.

Thank you for Reply, Diego

I have added my User defined folder, however, I could not remove the the Common folder SDK, I am intended to let one IDE use User defined folder, and another version use Common folder, however the User Defined one sees both. is that intended?

It is not a big issue now, although.

Regards!

Hi @ping1

Thank you for your reply!

Ok, I understand that you selected different SDK locations for two different IDE versions.

Could you detail more about this User Defined one sees both?  If  set my MCUXpresso IDE v24.12 [Build 148] [2025-01-10]  to User defined,  I will see that the SDKS from the common folder and my user defined folder are still available in the Installed SDKs window? Could you provide  a picture?

Thanks for reply

Here is the picture, it shows User Defined one - under o4 folder, which I created, also shows common one in folder ..02\SDKPackage although I didn't choose it.

In installed SDL Tab under IDE, it shows both too, I am using new IDEv24.12, BTW.

Hi @ping1

Thank you for your kind response.

So, let us say that basically the problem is that you need new IDEv24.12, to not erase your older SDK versions when installing latest versions ( let me know otherwise). I still need to determine if this a bug and see if I can recommend another solution. I do appreciate your help so far, even though it is not a critical topic for you!

So, if you remove the 02/SDK/Packages ( common folder) and restart the new IDEv24.12 and then restart the IDE, you see that the IDE will still fetch the common folder, I am correct?

Thank you!

Hi, Diego

You are right, I would like to use two different versions of IDE with separate SDKs totally.

I removed SDKS in the common folder, and then it doesn't appear on IDE24.12, but it also doesn't appears on my v11.8 IDE which is all existing project based on .

Or shall i not upgrade the IDE at all? not long ago, I thought v11.8 is your final IDE version and you are moving to something else, but now another new version with big jump, as I am starting a new project, I think it is better to start with new IDE and latest SDKs.

Regards!
