MCUXpresso selected project name blacked out.

For some reason the name of the currently selected project in MCUXpresso is blacked out, how can I fix this? I have included a screenshot below, in the screenshot the currently selected item is the 'FreeRTOSConfig.h' file, the project containing the currently selected item is always blacked out in my IDE.

I am running MCUXpresso 11.5.0 on Ubuntu 20.04 x64. I also had this issue with the previous MCUXpresso 11.4.x as well on the same machine.
