XFI SERDES channels for 1GbE/10GbE SFP+ operation

Hi,

I am investigating the ability to connect the XFI interface of the LS1046A with a retimer to a SFP+ cage.  The SFP+ module will be 1G/10G dual mode and I was wondering if the XFI interface could directly interface with the 1G signal or if it should be converted to 10G.

XFI is a single-speed 10G interface - it cannot support 1G target.
