LS2085A Console is not coming

Hi All,

I'm using LS2085A QDS board, board is booting properly but it is not giving the console prints. I have flashed all the necessary default images in the NOR flash using JTAG in the corresponding partition. All the settings are fine. FPGA and all clock initialization are fine. We have confirmed this using the corresponding LED in the board, any clues what might went wrong. ????

Note: Everything is fine except the console prints are not coming,, i have checked the uart cables also.. even probed the signals too.. it is fine,, but why the console is not coming ??iif

Please let me know if anybody faced similar kind of problem ??

Hi,

Check if you're using the correct UART port, UART cable and if the RCW is located at 0x0 offset and u-boot at 0x0010_0000 offset.

yes, im using the correct UART port, UART cable is fine, RCW and Uboot also placed in the correct offset..  Still the problem persists..

Hi Anandha

When you say : "Everything is fine except the console

prints are not coming,, i have checked the uart cables

also.. even probed the signals too.. it is fine"

Do you mean you know u-boot is working fine but

just nothing is coming to your terminal connection ?

If you are not sure that u-boot is running properly

use your JTAG debugger and RESET HALT first to

see if you can properly come out of reset then

single step couple times to make sure u-boot is

being executed at the correct address.

Also, you mentioned you probed the signals,

do you see activity on the uart pins when you

watch them with a scope ? If this is the case then

there might be a problem in your terminal program

settings (baud rate, flow control etc). Just make sure

your board is coming out of reset properly by halting

early on using your JTAG debugger. Perhaps you

can also stop at a later point and check the register

contents for serial port.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sinan,

Thanks for your valuable reply man.. Actually it is coming out of reset sequence... that is why we are getting the blue LED ON.. that indicates Successful FPGA initialization; correct processor orientation and all on-board voltage is in good condition;  All reset configuration and sequencer passed.. Also i can able to see the uart activity in scope, that is also fine.. Uboot is also fine,, terminal minicom settings also following the standards (baud rate 115200, no flow contrl)

Still the problem remains..

So, if you see UART activity by scope, why do you think console output is not coming? Have you tried to another PC?
