LS1021: Use multiple Hard drives on the SATA port

Hello,

I would like to know if the LS1021 single SATA controller can control more than one Hard drive? The idea is to connect two Hard drives on two different Serdes Lanes (Pairs) and have the SATA controller flip flop between the two Hard drives as needed. Is the SATA controller intelligent enough to do this Automatically?

Described approach is not viable.

The LS1021A SATA controller supports port multiplier operation, so it is possible to use an external port multiplier device.
