Booting ls1021atwr SDK 1.9 u-boot image from SD

Hi,

I am trying to boot u-boot from sd card on a ls1021atwr board.

The board states: SCH-28040 REV D1. I expect this board to have a silicon 1.0 CPU installed.

I finally need QSPI support so I am using this binary image from the SDK 1.9 under ls1021atwr:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 root root   547488 Dec  3 15:16 u-boot-sdcard-qspi-2015.01+fslgit-r0.bin*

lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root       40 Dec  3 15:16 u-boot-sdcard-qspi.bin -> u-boot-sdcard-qspi-2015.01+fslgit-r0.bin*

The image is written to SD card as follows:

#~ sudo dd if=<above image> of=/dev/sdX bs=512 seek=8

DIP switches are setup as follows:

SW2: 00100111

SW3: 01100001

I do not get a single character on the serial console.

Does the SDK 1.9 support my CPU silicon? If not, is there still support for this silicon in the used U-Boot sources?

Matthias

Hello Matthias Fuchs,

SDK 1.9 doesn't support LS1021 1.0 CPU, it is used for 2.0 CPU.

For LS1021 1.0 CPU, please download QorIQ SDK 1.8 from https://nxp.flexnetoperations.com/control/frse/product?child_plneID=684021&cert_num=181474981&ver=AR....

You could refer to a similar thread from SDcard boot SDK 1.8 LS1021a .

Have a great day,
Yiping

Hello Yiping Wang,

When you say "SDK 1.9 doesn't support LS1021 1.0 CPU", is that also for Linux kernel ? Or only Uboot as Matthias Fuchs asked ?

I mean, can we use Linux source from SDK 1.9 with Uboot from SDK 1.8 or 1.7 on LS1021A rev 1 board ?

Thanks

Philippe

Hello Philippe,

It's better to use u-boot and Linux Kernel from the same SDK.

Thanks,

Yiping

Hello,

is there a difference between the schematic of Tower-Board SCH-28040 REV D1 and newer ones? In detail I mean the connection between Lanes and Ethernet-PHYs? (see in pics added to this post). We've bought the SCH-28040 REV D1 board. Is it possible then to use SDK 1.8?

kind regards,

Jan Brand
