Kinetis leadtimes pushed out to mid 2023. Is this the end of the Kinetis line?

We haven't been able to buy Kinetis parts from a regular distributor for over a year now.  And delivery dates for orders we placed over a year ago just got pushed to mid-2023.

And we're not very confident in the mid-2023 date, since this is the third pushback, why wouldn't there be a fourth or fifth?

We've been using Kinetis products extensively since 2015.  We have multiple customers that could literally go out of business if they can't deliver products for two more years.

We need some definitive answers from NXP here.  You can't just say "52 weeks" for everything, and then 52 weeks later still say "52 weeks". And obviously 250 versions aren't all going to magically appear at once once they begin to appear.

If we use a low end, low memory, leaded part, are those the LAST ones that will come back into availability?  Will only the more profitable versions survive?  Are the days of leaded parts over?

Does NXP understand that if they string along their customers for 3 years without delivering they can bankrupt them or force redesigns and destroy their own Kinetis market?  It would be MUCH better to get an honest, detailed answer so we had some time to redesign.

And the i.MX parts really aren't well suited replacements for any of our battery powered, low current designs.

PS This post is going to act like a canary in a coal mine.  If it gets deleted, we will assume the worst.

In the same boat here, and dont get a clear answer from NXP. There are suppliers now offering some of these ic's but a £500+/ea.

How can you think this is acceptable NXP? Can you not just make a formal announcement that you are not going to make any more?

If we have to move platforms, it wont be to another NXP device! Someone must know when the fabrication plants are planning to run the K60's off? Or if not then you should communciate this to your customers.

Do you really think we haven't asked distributors?  52 weeks, across the board. 86 weeks, across the board.  Same answer, months later.  Those aren't answers, it is STALLING.  How long do you think you can go without addressing this?  86 weeks?  No, you cannot.

When is the first KL27 part going to be available?  What part will it be?  If we KNEW, we could be planning.  Redesigning to a BGA if necessary, etc.

Due to the current global chip situation, we have very long lead time in several parts 

 

All the kinetis family is active and also are part of the longevity program 

 

You need to check all the commercial stuff like lead time, ability with you local nxp sales representative

This is a real joke, just stalling again from NXP and no real answer or solution proposed ....

No clarification of the situation from our distributor except that "delivery is pushed back to the end of july" a few days before the expected delivery date (25 of april, which has been pushed back in march already) of our order: 100 weeks late (initial delivery time at the order in january 2021 was 21 weeks ...) and the component is still announced on the NXP website with a standard delivery time of 52 weeks.

This is a failure, we have to write personnal letters to our customers to explain the situation but from NXP .... nothing seems to be expected anymore.
