I see the J7 JTAG connector, but it seems that this is for connecting external hardware to the OpenSDA controller. Is there a way to connect an external debugger (J-Link) to the onboard KE04 (target) chip, and bypass OpenSDA completely? Thanks for any info.
Mike
J8 is for the OpenSDA processor. J7 is for the KE04.
J7 may not be mounted on the board so may need to be soldered in. An external debugger can then communicate in SWD mode (not JTAG) - this may work without disabling the OpenSDA debugger (I think it is disabled when the OpenSDA USB is not connected) but you could also hold it in reset if not.

Well that was simple! I had forgotten that I had removed R58, before I understood its purpose. After I re-installed a jumper there, It Just Worked. Nice. I'm looking forward to getting to know the 5V Kinesis parts now, as I have a 5V requirement.
Thanks, Mark. Yes, I'll add a connector to J7, and make sure the OpenSDA processor stays disconnected (I need the USB connection to supply power, so I may have to do the reset thing). Thanks for the help.
