DEMO56F8014: Demonstration Board for 56F8014 Digital Signal Controller
https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/additional-mpu-mcus-architectures/digit...
Hi, I have several mal functioning power supplies for special hardware that have the digital controller 56F8014, I have
run some tests while reparing some of them I realized the controller went corrupt, when moving the chip to a working
power supply it started to show the exact same behaviour. I´d like to know if with the "DEMO56F8014 Demonstration Board
for 56F8014 Digital Signal Controller" Kit I will be able to download the software from a good chip and then write it
the defective ones. Is this possible?
Hi,
I suggest you download a evaluation version of CodeWarrior for MCU ver11.x tools from the link:
You can use USBTAP to download code to on-chip flash of 56F8014 Demo board with 9V DC power supply under Win10 or low version Windows OS.
If you use the classic CodeWarrior for DSP56800E ver8.3, it may have issue under Win10.
Pls try to use CodeWarrior for MCU tools plus USBTAP device and download application code.

Hi, I have not bought any of the required equipment. I want to know before buying the items, so, are you suggesting i buy the following items?:
DEMO56F8014: Demonstration Board for 56F8014 Digital Signal Controller
https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/additional-mpu-mcus-architectures/digit...
and
USBTAP_DSC: USB TAP for ONCE DSC
https://www.nxp.com/design/software/development-software/codewarrior-development-tools/run-control-d...
Also, the software in the working chips is really difficult to find online, so I need the two operations, get the software from a working chip and inject the software to the difective ones.
If this is correct, please let me know so I can buy both items and download the recommended software.
Hi,
The MC56F8014 is a bit old, I suggest you order the latest DSC family, for example MC56F83xxx, MC56F81xxx, or MC56F84xxx, MC56F82xxx, among them, the MC56F83xxx, MC56F81xxx are latest families:
For example, I suggest you order Development Board for MC56F83xxx Digital Signal Controllers from the link:
You can order the third party Multilink Universal device so that you can download code when you design your own PCB.
The tools is CodeWarrior for mcu:
Hope it can help you

Okey, I am going to follow your suggestions.
So, to make sure, do I have to buy 2 separate things?
and will be able to copy the firmware in a working 56F8014 chip in a power supply and download it to a corrupted chip in another power supply????
I can not find the buy button on the second product.
Hi,
For the multiLink Universal device, you can order from PEMicro with www.pemicro.com

Hope it can help you

Hello, I just got the product you have recommended me!
The USB Multilink Universal.
To my surprise, none of the connectors matches the board I intend to flash.
I had sent you the pictures before, so I thought one of the cables would match.
Do I have to solder pins to the board to use the 7 pins connector? what would be de possition of the pins?
Thank you for your patience!
The chip number is exacly MC56F8014
I could not get a clear picture, but i can assure you it´s MC56F8014.
If you look at the pictures you can confirm the chip number.
Also since none the cables seemed to match the board, I remove the plastic cover on one of the sides and saw a series of pins that match the number of pins from one of the cables, so i made a adapter myselft, one of the pins on the board is visibly larger the the other ones, so I assumed it`s for the red wire. I have not run any test because I want to wait for your answer to see if its possible.

Oncovered pins, the one on the left is longer than the other ones

Hi,
This is the picture of the Freescale MC56F8014 Demo board, obviously, it is different from yours.
For your board, I have not your board schematics, pls find out the JTAG pin, and connect with your Multilink Universal device.

Ok, i got it all wrong from the begennig then.
My board is not a demostration board. It`s a board taken from an ELTEK industrial power supply. I repair this kind of power supplies. Now, I have many power supplies of this kind with what I suspect is corrupted MC56F8014 that causes de power supply to work erratically, I know this, because if I swap the board containing the MC56F8014 with the same board on a working power supply, the problems gets solved in the first one and the other one gets the errors.
What I want to be able to do is to extract the software in the chip MC56F8014 on a working board, and write it to an empy chip.
I am not trying to write a new program or anything like that, just reflash the corrupted chips or flash new chips and solder them into the boards.
Hola MAdemusa, soy de Colombia, también reparo equipos eltek, quizás nos podamos colaborar, escríbeme!!!
Hi Mademusa.
Did you manage to get a way to read and write this card?
