Subject: Codewarrior usb tap not erasing/ programming with mpc8641d-using CWH-CTP-BASE-HE(USB Warrior)+ CWH-CTP-COP-YE(ADD TIP)

I am using CWH-CTP-BASE-HE(USB Warrior)+ CWH-CTP-COP-YE(ADD TIP) to program MPC8641d based board. Codewarrior IDE Version 8.8 is used for flash programming with patch 8.8.6 installed. When USB TAP is connected to the target board, following issues are observed:

1. The Flash programmer is not able to program or erase the programmed sectors Flash.

2. Programmer is able to erase already blank sectors.

3. Programming in already blank sectors also is failing.

4. Sometimes, connection itself is failing with error message Check your JTAG clock speed.

Kindly, clarify the above points and suggest if any software updation is required. If so, please provide download link and instructions for the same.

Hello shivakumar krishnamurthy,

CodeWarrior initialization files provided in CodeWarrior PA V8.8\PowerPC_EABI_Support\Initialization_Files\Host are created according to Freescale(NXP) demo boards. If you are bringing up a new board, you need to customize the initialization file based on your target board, probably you need to modify LAW configuration, DDR controller configuration, local bus controller configuration(BR and OR registers) sections.

If your problem remains, would you please capture the CCS log and attach it for us to do do more investigation?

After create a bareboard project, please enable CCS log from Edit->Debug Version Settings->Debugger->Remote Debugging->Edit connection->Enable Logging, then connect to the target from Debug->Connect, the low level CCS log will be printed in CodeWarrior IDE.

Have a great day,
Yiping
