Hi everybody,
i speak about a 5200B and codewarrior related. In order to debug a U-Boot with this target i thought i had to use a linux-pc and U-boot development environment or at least
CWS-PPC-LLPLT-CX
that's a codewarrior platform edition linux hosted.
But on quick reference guide for codewarrior i read about
CWS-PPC-CMWFL-CX
that is windows hosted and support U-Boot debugging while i thought it was only for linux application development on windows.
Anybody may let me understand better the situation?
understood
Really thanks a lot!!
Yes I think I can straighten this out: the short answer is Yes and No.
From the debugging point of view either the Windows-hosted or Linux-hosted Platform Edition of CodeWarrior for Power Architecture supports debugging MPC5200B u-boot as well as Linux application development and debugging. For Linux kernel debugging you will need the Linux-hosted CodeWarrior tools, but since you get both the Linux-hosted and Windows-hosted CodeWarrior software packages (plus all the other CodeWarrior Development Studios that are included in the CodeWarrior Suite) for the price of one you're probably better off running this CodeWarrior software on your Linux system. Plus, if you plan on working with the MPC5200B BSP code you will need to install the LTIB for this board onto your Linux system.
