Due to the march of technology I've been given an upgraded PC at work, which comes with Windows 7.
We are using Codewarrior 7.2 for Coldfire V2/3/4, node-locked using a dongle.
I have been through the installation procedure (install CW, HASP, dongle drivers, Flexim), the computer can read the dongle ID in LMtools, and I have the license.dat file from the installation on my old PC (the installation instructions seem to say this is what you should do), but when I start Codewarrior it hangs and I get an error message:
Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.Problem signature: Problem Event Name: AppHangB1 Application Name: IDE.exe Application Version: 5.9.0.5293 Application Timestamp: 4af36978 Hang Signature: 6d30 Hang Type: 0 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Hang Signature 1: 6d30328803df6e4377768ca04d69ef43 Additional Hang Signature 2: ab04 Additional Hang Signature 3: ab043784006824bfd68330095d0f90a7 Additional Hang Signature 4: 6d30 Additional Hang Signature 5: 6d30328803df6e4377768ca04d69ef43 Additional Hang Signature 6: ab04 Additional Hang Signature 7: ab043784006824bfd68330095d0f90a7
Can anyone help?

Well the answer turned out to be worse than I thought - it wasn't a compatability issue at all, it was the fact that I had chosen not to install Processor Expert, which caused CW to grind to a halt at startup looking for PE, and there was no way to tell it that it's not installed.
So, the installer lets you select an option which then breaks the program - nice.
If I was in your case I would simply reinstall my PC with WinXP, or set up a dual boot system. New PC's come with Win7 installed but that doen't mean one must stick with it...
Marc,
I'm aware of both of those options, my question was an attempt to transport the reader on a dreamlike journey to a whimsical fantasy realm of professional software "just working" on a compatible OS.
We have Windows 1.0 on 5.25" floppies in the office cupboard but the blu-ray drive just won't read them

Just to add I have tried:
- Running in Windows XP compatability mode
- Running as Administrator
- Disabling desktop composition as recommended https://community.freescale.com/message/61562#61562
None have made any difference.
