Failed with the following message when debug the.mcp project using MultiLink in CW v5.0\6.2?

When I debugged the.mcp project using MultiLink Universal and Code Warrior V5.0 and V6.2, I got an error after clicking the Connect(RESET) button and the following firmware upgrade failure message. In fact, I have already used PEFirmwareConfig.exe to update the firmware of MultiLink Universal from ARM to S12 type (because my target chip is MC9S12XEP100 and it use S12 architecture), I don't understand why the firmware is required to be upgraded again in Code Warrior IDE and cannot be debugable if the upgrade fails. The following is the corresponding picture, I hope someone can help me, thank you.

First update Firmware:

Second try to debug

Hi smecolive

CW6.x doesn't support S12XEP100.

If CW5.x, to resolve the problem, please let me know your windows platform? and how it works if using CW5.1?

Thanks,

Jun Zhang

First of all, thank you very much for your reply. And yes, both CW6.2 and CW5.9 are installed in win7 on my VMWare. If I use CW5.9 to open the project and enter Debug, the same problem will occur. I also have WinXp Professional, will it be better if I change to XP?Please help me

5.9 is IDE version not CodeWarrior version.

you work on win7 platform, thus I suggest using CodeWarrior v5.1.

CW5.1 supports below Operating System:

Microsoft® Windows® XP 32-bit and 64-bit
(Professional Edition)
Microsoft Windows Vista® Business 32-bit
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64-bit
Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit (Home
Premium and Professional Edition)

attached is how to download CW5.1

please test the connection with CW5.1.

If still can't connect, If you use mulink universial ,  please make sure its firmware support 16bit MCU interface.

To update driver, please download tool in this url:

After install the tool. then open it, with MULTILINK_UNIVERSAL connected with PC, you can update the multlink universial firmware as below

Hope this helps,

What's the difference between Code Warrior and Code Warrior IDE? And where can I check my Code Warrior version instead of my IDE version? According to the instructions in the video, I found that I did not purchase the corresponding software, so the Product list only has MCUXpress.

HI

5.9.0 is IDE version, but not CW version

to check CW version, click on "install products" you will see.

If you have CW for HCS12(X) v5.2 license, it also works for CW5.1. No need to purchase license again.

Hope this helps,

Jun Zhang

Does this mean my version of Code Warrior is for S12 v5.0?

But the license is not purchased by my account. I only have the license but cannot download relevant software from the official website. According to the instructions in the video, I can only find MCUXpress.

There is no other CW5.1 download link on public website.

I suggest you creating a private case to NXP support team to ask for help.

Thanks,

Jun Zhang
