C and reading/writing to the SCI port

Can someone show me how to read/write using C to the SCI port (in a MC9S08GB60)?

Please be as discriptive as possible, I am new to this.

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately, neither zip I was able to open with my Codewarrior V6.1.  Some error occurs?

Is there simple lines I can use, I do know that the SCI must be initialized and set for its baud rate and receive/send functionality, but I am more interested in the actual line that says write and how it is performed.

How about just unzipping the files then look in the sources directory and search for SCID or SCI?D.
