I've installed Codewarrior and the P&E USB drivers. When I plug in the usb cable,  I get a continuous series of sounds from my laptop. It's like the device is recognized and then disconnects, over and over. It looks like the driver doesn't like the hardware.
Any suggestions?

1) What processor are you targeting and CW's version number?

2) What eval board are you plugging the cable into?

3) What's your host computer's operating system? XP service pack 1, 2 ?????

1.MC9S08QG8, Codewarrior HC08 v5.1
CodeWarrior is not involved here. The problem occurs when I plug in the USB connection, before I run CodeWarrior.
2. Freescale DEMO9S08QG8
3. XP SP2

1) OK, when you first plugged the board in, did Windows XP give you a status balloon that indicated new hardware detected? If so, what did you do?

2) When you connect the cable, do any LEDs on the DEMO9S08QG8 light up?

I don't think a new driver was loaded when I first plugged in the board. It just started to clink-clunk over and over. While it is doing this, the USB led flashes on and off. Since a device doesn't finish initialization, the usb device doesn't show up in device manager and I can't remove/replace the driver. Perhaps I could reinstall the driver, but I don't know where to find it.

Also, my USB-ML-12 works fine

I agree it's definitely a USB driver problem. Windows XP2 is notorious for jamming a flaky Microsoft USB driver into the device table if you happen to plug the USB device in before installing its driver. I don't know if that happened--let's just try to fix this thing. There's actually an earlier thread in the forum where someone installed the PE Micro drivers over those provided by CW. The thread is here. Let's give that a try.
