Can a MKL03Z8VFG4 GPIO configured as an Output and driven high be destroyed, when it is shortened to Vss over a long period of time?
Yes. The short to ground will exceed the 25mA max current spec for the output pin. This will cause localized heating on the die which will affect the reliability and lifetime of the chip.
