What micro is MQ4CE?

Hi

Can anyone help identify what micro has MQ4CE printed on a QFN16 package.

I believe it is a MC9S08QT4 but would like clarification as its used on a GPS tracker, and thought you would need at least 2 x SCI, 1 for comms to the GPS and 1 for comms to the GSM/3G module.........but the QT4  only has 1 SCI.

Once upon a time there was a MC908QY4A device with 16 pins, but this was not available in QFN16 package to my knowledge. This did not have a SCI peripheral.

Within the newer MC9S08Q family, only the 'QG4 seems to be available in a QFN16 package.  The 'QB4 is restricted to TSSOP with 16 pins.  I am not aware that any 16-pin device contains more than one SCI module.

I think we had this question before and it was indeed a QT4A (although I can't be 100% sure).

But, I wanted to say that you should not eliminate it based on how many SCI ports it has.  It could be using the same SCI for separate RX/TX channels (one RX-only, one TX-only), use one hard and one soft SCI port, or even switch between two devices attached to the same port with some hardware help (eg., while talking to the GSM, ignore the GPS, and vice versa).

Thanks again for your reply.

I suppose it could be sharing the SCI for both modules....a bit odd though. It would be much easier to use an MCU with 2 x SCI and be done with it.There doesn't seem to be any device to switch between the two modules.
