What is the best replacement for the 68HC908GT8?

We have a product using the 68HC908GT8 that we need to update to an "active status" processor.  The code is written is assembly.  What would be the most compatible processor to replace it?

The 68HC908GT8 is and old HC08 family, the new 8 bit MCU are the HCS08 family, even the S08 family is  fully compatible with all legacy code written for the M68HC08 Family, there is not pin to pin compatible replacement for the 68HC908GT8,
