Hello everyone,

I started Building the Ventilator described in DRM127. However i can not understand the pressure sensor used in the air chamber. At the benining the air chamber will have the ambient air pressure (~101 kpa) and by adding the air & Oxygen we will get higher pressure however the used pressure sensor can measure until 100 kpa max, moreover in the Code if the pressure exceedes 110 kpa then it is ignored. Is the pressure sensor really correct or am i using it wrongly??

Hi,

The sensor used for this task is the MPXV5100GP which have a measurement pressure range from 0 to 100kPa, but this device is a Gauge pressure sensor, which means that it uses the local atmospheric pressure as its reference pressure, which, if I understand well your comments is around 101kPa, so, starting from this point, the MPXV5100GP can measure up to 100kPa (up to 201kPa in this specific case where its reference point is the ambient pressure of 101kPa).

Let me know if I misunderstood your question.

Regards,

Jose
