Hello,

MC1320x is not recommended for new designs. You can check out our IEEE® 802.15.4-based Wireless MCUs - 2.4 GHz Solutions for a list of our latest products.

About your question on the SMA connector, yes, it is ok to place it like that. Note that there is a 0 ohm resistor to select the inverted F-antenna or the SMA connector. You can use that design as reference.

For more information on the antennas and RF circuit, you can refer to:

Compact Integrated Antennas

Freescale IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee Package and Hardware Layout Considerations

Hardware Design Considerations for MKW41Z/31Z/21Z BLE and IEEE 802.15.4 Devices

Hardware Design Considerations for MKW2x IEEE 802.15.4 Devices

Regards,

Gerardo

Inverted-F antenna design

Hi,

I was checking the MC1320xRFCUG document and saw that the SMA port is attached to the open side of the inverted-F antenna. Since the antenna design needs very careful steps, two questions arise:

- Was that done intentionally? I mean is it claimed that the open side of the antenna is free to be used?

- Is it also OK to place the SMA to the close side of the antenna (ground side)
