Dear George,

Below are excerpts from the NAND FLASH operation descriptions:

"This 8-bit bus acts as a multiplexed bus to transfer data, address, and instructions."

" Bidirectional 8-bit multiplexed bus used to send data/command/address to their respective registers in the NAND flash device. The data read from the NAND flash device is also available on these lines."

"For 16-bit devices, commands and addresses use the lower 8 bits (7:0). The upper 8 bits of the 16-bit data bus are used only during data-transfer cycles."

Etc.

So, it is the lower 8 bits; they are always used - for both 8- and 16-bit devices.

Sincerely, Naoum Gitnik.
