Hi,

Our application requires us to measure the Pressure FROM Atmospheric pressure 0mmHg TO 330mmHg below atmospheric pressure.

We are planning to use MPXM2053GS. WRT to the above Sensor, please address the below three questions.

1) Can I use this Sensor to measure the above mentioned pressure range.?

2) Please tell me the connection of Vaccum port P2. Is this vacuum port P2 connected to Vacuum or vented to Atmospheric pressure?..

(My understanding is the vacuum port P2 port is not open to Atmosphere but instead sealed internally and hence considered as Vacuum).

2) The output of this Sensor is differential. But no where in the datasheet, i could find the actual values of Vout+ and Vout- . Instead I understood that the output varies wrt 0.8mV/kPa sensitivity and could list out the Vout values wrt each kPa. But please explain with what formula this Vout is linked to Vout+ and Vout-

Hello Deepak_India

Good day!

Can I use this Sensor to measure the above mentioned pressure range.?

Yes you can use it, 330 mmHg ≈ 44 kPa, so is under range

Please tell me the connection of Vaccum port P2. Is this vacuum port P2 connected to Vacuum or vented to Atmospheric pressure?

I recommend you take a look to the datasheet

Chapter: 9.4 Pressure (P1) / Vacuum (P2) side identification

NXP designates the two sides of the pressure sensor as the Pressure (P1) side and the

Vacuum (P2) side. The Pressure (P1) side is the side containing silicone gel that isolates

the die from the environment. The NXP MPX pressure sensor is designed to operate with

positive differential pressure applied, P1 > P2.

The output of this Sensor is differential.

Okay the datasheet

The typical sensitivity is 0.8 mV/kPa when powered with 10 V.

The output voltage is given by:

For example, at 10 V supply:

At 0 kPa: Vout- = 0mV

At 50 kPa: Vout+ = 0.8×50 = 40mV

Vout = 40mV

The datasheet say:

In this way we can confirm that this would be the correct relationship between pressures

I hope this information has helped you, please let me know if you need help with anything else.

Have a great day and best of luck.
