topic Should I remove the gravity? in Sensors

Hi,

I want to install a accelerometer on the car's suspension, the accelerometer is used to measure the vibration result from uneven road surface. I'm afraid that the gravity will affect the accelerometer's measurements when car goes up or down a slope. So, I have two questions:

        1. Should I remove the gravity from the accelerometer's measurements?

        2. If I have to remove the gravity, is there any method to remove that? I only have a 3-axis accelerometer.

         Looking forward your reply.

         Thanks a lot!

Since you are only interested in vibrations, I recommend you take the vector magnitude of the accelerometer and operate on that. You may also want to apply a high pass filter to remove gravity and low frequency accelerations.
