Please move it after __etext:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;PRE class="language-none line-numbers"&gt;&lt;CODE&gt;__etext = .; /* Define a global symbol at end of code. */

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Seems the issue is related to the linker symbol "&amp;nbsp;__DATA_ROM"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is actually pointer into ROM memory where is located ROM image of the data section(s).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Startup uses this symbol to perform ROM-to-RAM copydown.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This symbol should be located behind the last Flash/ROM section (beginning of free flash space)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In your .ld its very first symbol in the section. Please move it after __etext:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;PRE class="language-none line-numbers"&gt;&lt;CODE&gt;__etext = .; /* Define a global symbol at end of code. */
