iMXRT685 - I2C Configuration of pins E16 and F16

My customer, SHURE, is using the iMXRT685 in a new design. They would like to use the I2C peripheral of Flexcomm 15, however, the data sheet shows that pins E16 (PMIC_I2C_SCL) and F16 (PMIC_I2C_SDA) are NOT open drain pins. Within MCUXpresso's pin configuration tool, there is an option to enable open-drains on these pins using the ODENA selector.

Can these pins be used for generic I2C usage, or are these pins specific to another usage case?
