DDR Migration from 075E to 062E using NXP LS1046A

Hi All,

We are using a custom board based on NXP LS1046A,

For the DDR section we have referred LS1046AFRWY, and we have used MT40A512M16LY-075EIT: E DDR IC. And the board is working perfectly fine.

Now since the DDR IC is obsolete we want to migrate to DDR having higher EoL and also higher storage, for which we are migrating to drop in replacement IC : MT40A1G16TB-062E:F.

The difference is the Speed Grade : Initially it was -075E and now it is -062E (t CK = 0.625ns, CL = 22).

Please let me know where and what changes are to be done in the SoC LSDK 21.08 directory so that the upgraded IC works.

Any change of DDR please validate your custom DDR components with QCVS DDR Tool because the HW design has changed.

Please follow QCVS_DDR_User_Guide change the setting of DDR and validate the design.

When you get the new parameters of the DDR, please refer LSDK21.08 page 205, Steps To Add DDR Driver In TFA, modify */flexbuild_lsdk2108_github/components/firmware/atf/plat/nxp/soc-ls1046a/ls1046afrwy/ddr_init.c.

Thank u for the reply,

I have 2 questions

1) I have not changed My PCB (Bare Board), PCB design is the same, however iam migrating from MT40A512M16LY-075EIT: E to MT40A1G16TB-062E:F, which is a drop in replacement with change in speed grade.

Whether the migrated DDR is feasible to the PCB ???

2) If it is feasible, i should run QCVS tool and Genarate the Code, the generated code should be incorporated in flexbuild_lsdk2108_github/components/firmware/atf/plat/nxp/soc-ls1046a/ls1046afrwy/ddr_init.c.

Please let me know, what all parameters in ddr_init.c should be changed or the entire ddr_init.c should be changed.
