The datasheet of the PCA9601 section 7.3 say: "Two or more SX or SY I/Os must not be interconnected. The PCA9601 design does not support this configuration. Bidirectional I2C-bus signals do not allow any direction control pin so, instead, slightly different logic LOW voltage levels are used at SX/SY to avoid latching of this buffer . . . . . . . ."

The question is: Is it possible to connect a PCA9548 8ch mux (SDA pin 23 and SCL pin 22 on TSSOP package) to the SX and SY pins of the PCA9601.

The PCA9548 is not a bus buffer, but has mosfets to connect a channel to the I2C bus.

Any help or clarification would be much appreciated

Hello,

Yes, you can connect PCA9548 SDA pin and SCL pin to the SX and SY pins of the PCA9601.

Hope this helps.

Got a prototype working, I use the PCA9601 to connect I2C over RS422 and use Cat5e. I've tested it up to 266 meter (I didn't have more cable at the time)
