PN7150 Not Entering Standby

NXP,

I'm working on a design using the PN7150 and I'm having a problem where some of my PN7150s seemingly don't enter Stand-By mode.

So far, I've narrowed down the issue to correlating with the software revision of the PN7150.

I have 2 OM5578 dev boards, one that was populated with PN7150B0HN/C11002, and a second OM5578 where I replaced the PN7150 with a PN7150B0HN/C11006. The OM5578 with the PN7150B0HN/C11002 briefly draws ~5 mA when the enable pin is held high, then returns to ~20 uA. However, the OM5578 with the PN7150B0HN/C11006, draws ~5 mA continuously when the enable pin is held high. The power profile of the OM5578 with PN7150B0HN/C11002 behaves as expected, where the current returns to ~20uA in between RF transmissions in discovery mode, but one with the PN7150B0HN/C11006 only ever drops to ~5mA.

The host controllers for both OM5578 are running the exact same firmware, based of the MCUXpresso example code. I've ensured CORE_SET_POWER_MODE_CMD is set to 0x01 (Standby Mode Enabled) in the host controller firmware.

Are there any other settings required to enter standby mode on PN7150B0HN/C11006 parts? Do you have any ideas what could be causing the PN7150 to continuously draw 5mA?

Appreciate any help.

-Daniel

Hello All,

PN7150 Version C11006 unfortunately does not support "standby mode", as written in the Datasheet below.

As this product is not recommended for new designs, there is no plan to fix it. Please consider PN7160 for future designs.

BR
