I already switched ISP mode.

Table DIP Switches: Boot mode selection for EVKs

My EVK board dip switch.

This may be a bit off-topic, but I would like to raise a hardware-related concern.

I frequently need to change the DIP switch settings—specifically switches 3 and 4—for XIP boot configuration. However, I’ve found that the DIP switches are quite small and feel somewhat fragile. After repeated use, I’m concerned they may be getting damaged or worn out.

Would it be possible to consider using larger and more robust DIP switches in future revisions of the board?

I’m currently working with the RT1020-EVK board, connected to my PC via USB cable.
I’ve configured the board’s boot mode to BOOT_MODE[1:0] = 01 for Serial Downloader Mode.

However, in this configuration, the board fails to connect over USB, and only UART communication works correctly

.

Could you please advise why this might be happening?
Also, if I want to use the USB interface with Serial Downloader Mode, are there any additional steps or configurations I should apply?

Thank you for your support.

Hi,

the board should be switched to ISP mode.

You can find the DIP SWITCH configuration in the user guide - processor specific workflow

Processor-specific workflows — MCUXpresso Secure Provisioning Tool 25.03 25.03 documentation

Hi,

in addition what Marek wrote - do you see the EVK in the device manager?

Also please note, that ROM is sticky to a channel that it can see at first, so if you started communicating via UART, to try the USB you have to reset the chip so the ROM again looks for the both UART and USB and which is the first, it will stick to it again.

And see the PDF for the EVK, frequently the different USB port has to be used for UART and another one for USB and even power supply source has to be changed via jumpers based on the used USB port.

Regards,

Hi Seongyon,

regarding the DIP switches I cannot provide any feedback.

Regarding USB vs UART - what USB port do you use?

If I am correct:

J9 - this should be used for USB ISP

J23 - for UART ISP

you also need to check you power supply, if you do not use external one, see `MIMXRT1020 EVK Board Hardware User’s Guide`
