Hello NXP,

I was seeing on Wikipedia "Obtaining a vendor ID", but unfortunately NXP not on the list.

You may not want to complicate life, if so, I have a wonderful Suggestions: PID / VID for generic devices (Serial CDC, MSD, Mouse/keyboard HID, etc.).

It will be free advertising for your company and products.

Sounds good, right?

That happened to me too.

The problem with these IDs is that they are "illegals" supposedly.

If all other manufacturers are offering ranges of IDs for its clients, it seems a good idea to also NXP does.

My proposal is simpler than the competition: provide a PID for each generic device and NXP does not have to grant permissions individually, saving time and personnel.

Good news, because the website says: "Details of the NXP USB VID / PID program will be available on www.lpcware.com in [B]December 2012[/B]"

I imagine that the program will be for all MCU that supports USB, not just the LPC11Uxx family.

you are the second person today referring to wikipedia.
Although wikipedia is a nice source and the give a lot of valuable information, it is nowhere stated that wikipedia is always correct and always complete.

In fact, wikipedia is never complete ... It will never contain everything that is out there in the real world.
So as a warning to all people on this forum: don't take wikipedia as your only reference - if it is not on Wikipedia this does not mean it is not possible or does not exist.

I think that this is not simple at all and cannot be used in this way.
If NXP would provide just one PID for each generic device then how do I distinguish between two lpc1769 board with different functionality (one board containing an HID driver, the next an MSD) ???

I'm happy to see that NXP is going to do something. I'll be visiting them somewhere this month (if my new job allows) and order a stack of PIDs - I've got a number of nice projects on the way :D

That was only written in this thread by NXP support as an unofficial announcement that they planned to start rollout earlier.
Apparently that plan has not been implemented - the NXP website still mentions December.

maybe NXP Europe can tell us if they have a new date. Although I know they are quite busy; I've been trying to plan a 'meeting' with some of the guys since beginning of December but they even have too much to do to join me for a beer&bite :eek:

I am planning one (possibly more) meeting that is open to everyone who wants to join. I have two possible Seats2Meet locations for this: one is in Arnhem, the other in Utrecht - both are open on Saturdays but I want to see the location for myself before deciding when and where to meet.

My idea is to have a meeting in style of the S2M concept. I'll just be there and be available for other LPCXpresso users.

I have some ideas for this but I want to verify some things first before telling more.
