Hi, I have a problem when I try to debug my project. I get the following error:

I checked that my MCU setting were right (in the bottom right corner of lpcxpresso it says LPC11U14/201).

Funny thing is that it was working fine before... When the error appeared I switched to different board(also with an LPC11U14) which again was working fine. But today I got the error also on this board.

Does anybody have an idea? Im using a red probe debugger to debug.

That's no valid Part ID :eek:

Therefore LPCXpresso is nagging :)

Try to reset everything and read Part ID with FlashMagic to confirm a correct ID reading ;)

Either your ID reading is wrong or you have discovered a new unknown chip :p

Isn't that how evolution works? One chip suddenly changing in a different one? :)
What should I do if the ID reading is indeed wrong?

I installed version 5 of LPCXpresso, but still it still gives the same error... Any more ideas?

Actually I have problems reading it with Flash-Magic. Something with a "failed to autobaud" error. IÂ´m using the red probe+ debugger, but I have no idea what the interface type and oscillator freq settings should be.

I have no idea what you mean. I have downloaded flash magic from http://www.flashmagictool.com/ and tried to read the device signature via ISP>>Read device signature. This failed because it failed to autobaud. I tried to solve this by setting the properties in step 1, but I dont know everything I need to fill in. I dont know what interface I should choose and what oscillator the LPC11U14 uses.

Would suggest to use UART to USB converter and use setup like described here:

So my JTAG connected to microprocessor is not enough for this?

IÂ´m also wondering how this is going to solve my original problem. If it shows the same ID as the LPCXpresso, then what? And if it does provide the correct ID, and updating LPCXpresso doesnÂ´t help, then what?

Hi,
As Zero pointed out your part ID is not right. Can you please give us the complete markings on the Chip?

Also, The following steps are to be followed in order to force the chip into ISP mode.

1. Ground P0_3.
2. Assert the Reset and ISP pins.
3. De-assert the Reset pin.
4. De-assert the ISP pin.

Here is the procedure to read the part-ID of the chip using the FlashMagic tool.
1. Connect the USB to serial cable with the Serial port connected to the board with the LPC11U14 and the USB port connected to the PC.
2. Force the LPC11U14 into ISP mode.
3. Run the Flashmagic tool with the settings shown in the Flasjmagic.jpg ([ATTACH]884[/ATTACH]) snapshot.
4. Select ISP->Read Device Signature (something like Device Signature.jpg ([ATTACH]883[/ATTACH]) will be shown to you).

Please provide a snapshot of the Device signature window that is shown to you. This will help us in resolving the issue.

Are we talking about a custom board here?
If so then knows that it is good practise to provide a means to connect flashmagic en some jumpers/switches to force ISP mode.

Also maybe you have a faulty hardware design so that your MCU gets dammaged after a while. Since at first it did work and the problem repeated itself with a second board.

Does the LPC11U14 has a JTAG? I thought it was a SWD only chip? I can be wrong since i am not familiar with that particular MCU.

Frankb, Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having a similar problem where I am getting a part mismatch error (same as you have listed) but I know for a fact that I have the LPC11U14/201... Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Turns out I had an older version of LPCXPresso. installed version 5, and now I am good to go.
