Hi,

I am new to using LPCXpresso but find it a great IDE tool, however I have now hit a problem debugging. I have version v7.9.2 installed on Fedora release 22. LPCXpresso License type says FULL with Debug Limit of 256k.

All was ok for a while but now the code size has crept up (obviously beyond 8k) I get the error 'Flash Image too large for License' error when trying to debug. It seems to report that Download Limit is 8K (UNREGISTERED) ! I have run 'crt_emu_cm3_nxp -info-license' command in the LPCXpresso/bin directory and this reports:

Ni: LPCXpresso Debug Driver v7.9 (Aug 11 2015 15:50:39 - crt_emu_cm3_nxp build 262)
Cr:f LPCXpresso Free License - Download limit is 8K (UNREGISTERED)

Any suggestions on how to resolve 8k limit so I can continue debugging.

Ensure that /usr/share has read/write access, then reactivate your license. Report back how you get on, please.

Hi,

I can read and write files to /usr/share. I have also re-activated my license, but still get them same result. However I have noticed that when starting the debugger the Error Report details imply it is using 'crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp'. Not sure if that helps. Again running 'crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp' from the LPCXpresso/bin directory it reports the same information as before, ie Download Limit is 8K (UNREGISTERED).

Hi FallGuy,

Yes, I read that post but doesn't seemed to have helped I'm afraid. It doesn't seem to really give any info if you're running Linux other than run the commands I have already attempted.

I have the files from the directory /usr/share/NXPLPCXpresso it mentions but not sure where to send them?

You can just zip up the files and post them here, along with the output from "crt_emu_cm3_nxp -info-license".

Hi,

Just thought I'd update you in case it helps. I have installed LPCXpresso on my Debian machine (32bit) and transferred the project and am able to build and debug without the problem. I have run the crt_emu_cm3_nxp command and this time it reports that my Download Limit is 256k. All as expected !

So, I guess the issue is something to do with the Fedora install, which is strange in so much that as far as I know Fedora is supported but Debian isn't officially.

Hope that may shed some light on things.

We would like to investigate in more detail so sent you a direct email requesting more detailed information on the 23rd. If you can respond to that, we will investigate further as to why your Fedora free license is not working.

I have managed to resolve the problem. I have included a brief outline of the issue below and hopefully it may prove helpful.

I have two machines running Fedora with the same configuration, which I use in different parts of the building for various projects. I had LPCXpresso and other tools installed on both. Unfortunately on one of the machines I lost the root partition (SSD Fault I think) so I took a copy of the other machine's SSD (using linux dd command) and then used this in place of the faulty disk. All works correctly except the LPCXpresso tools. Where I believe the problem occurred is that I think the LPCXpresso debug tools required the MAC address or something to tie up with the License or activation code. Now as I had copied the disk image from the other machine I concluded that naturally the hardware MAC address doesn't match the one the copied version was activated against.

I have now re-installed LPCXpresso and re-registered and got a new activation code and all works as it should.

I hope that all makes sense.
