hi
i have build the project in lpcexpresso , but when i am connecting the lpc-link kit it is not getting connected.it is showing "the usb device not recognized".

I'm sorry but you haven't provided enough information for us to be able to help you.

What is showing "the usb device not recognized"?
When is this occurring?
Have you downloaded and started debugging the application?
Which application are you trying to run?
Which operating system are you running?
Which version of LPCXpresso?
etc

when i am trying to debug the application it is showing " no emulator found,not connected" eventhough lpc-link is connected to the usb port.
in the device manager i do not see lpcexpresso on usb port.
i am using lpcexpresso v3.2 for lpc1114 device.the os is vista.

Hi

When you plug the LPC-Link into USB, Windows will load drivers for it. Do you see these drivers being loaded successfully? If you run Device Manager, under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", you should see "USB Device with DFU capabilities".

If you see this, when you start debugging, do you see a splash screen "Initialising LPC-Link"? This is displayed while the firmware is being downloaded to the LPC-Link. After this has happened, you should then see a new device appear in the Device Manager "LPC-Link Debug Probe".

DO you see any of this?

i am not able to see any of the things u mentioned under device manager,usb controller.

infact even i didnt find the DFU driver in the windows/system32/drivers. Is there any problem in installation of the driver??should i reinstall the lpcexpresso??and is there any specific procedure for the DFU driver to be installed??

what should i do?

If you do not see any of these things, it could mean that your USB cable is not correctly fitted, or it is broken. Could you try connecting with another cable?

When you install LPCXpresso, it installs the drivers for you. However, during the driver installation Windows asks you to confirm that you wish to install "unsigned" drivers. You must accept the installation of these drivers.

Also, if you are installing on a 64-bit operating system, then this is not currently supported. We are hoping to provide a new installer shortly that will work with 64 bit Windows.

So replacing the cable improved things?
Can you tell me which OS you are running?

Can you try running this from the command line:

cd c:\nxp\lpcxpresso\bin
crt_emu_lpc11_13 -info-license

Can you then zip up the directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\LPCXpresso (XP) or
C:\Users\Public\LPCXpresso (Vista/Win7)

and post to this forum.

Hi,

Are you connecting the board directly to your PC, or is it via a hub? Can you try connecting directly to a USB port on your PC.

It would be helpful to collect more information when it's convenient. It seems you have a working USB cable. Have you made any modifications to the LPCXpresso hardware (e.g added push button or other)? Could you provide the designation on the MCU? Otherwise, we presume you have a LPC1343.

Given the fact you've seen an entry for the DFU device in the Device Manager, please attempt to manually download a probe image to the LPCXpresso. For the purpose of this test, please use the LPCXpressoWIN.enc probe image.

Example:
C:\nxp\lpcxpress_3.2\bin\DFUAPP.exe /f LPCXpressoWIN.enc

Open the Windows Device Manager. Once the probe has properly initialized, you'll notice the "USB Device with DFU Capabilities" entry is replaced with "LPC-Link Debug Probe v1.1". Once you see this entry, in a DOS cmd window please capture the output from the following commands:

C:\nxp\lpcxpresso_3.2\bin\crt_emu_lpc11_13 -g -2 -pLPC1343 -wire=winusb -info-emu

C:\nxp\lpcxpresso_3.2\bin\crt_emu_lpc11_13 -g -2 -pLPC1343 -wire=winusb -info-target

i am glad to inform you that the problem faced is solved...i am able to debug and download.

i changed the cable and also reinstalled lpcxpresso.and it started working properly.

I have the same problem.
I run on XP and I have downloaded the latest version CodeREd 3.5.6.

When I try to run the command :
crt_emu_lpc11_13 -g -2 -pLPC1343 -wire=winusb -info-emu
I find only the executable :
crt_emu_lpc11_13_npx.exe

When I try to run it it complains that he cannot find winusb.dll

Please help because I am getting crazy.

This is normally because the driver did not install correctly.

When you installed LPCXpresso, did you allow the drivers to install (as instructed)? I suggest you install the product again, and all the drivers to install.

Yesterday on seminar I have installed the Code Red from presentation CD.
It has installed a lot of drivers.
I have tried all that things that came in my mind.
Today I have uninstalled the version from CD (3.5.0) , I have downloaded the latest version 3.5.6 and tryed again.
In device manager I see this device as USB Device with DFU capabilities.
Attached it's the log file for my workspace.

I have uninstalled the Code REd IDE ,
I have uninstalled the USB driver from device manager.

I have installed again the lpcxpresso_3.5.6.
I have installed USB drivers again pointing to folder : C:\nxp\lpcxpresso_3.5\Drivers\DFU . I have accepted the warnings about digitally signing.

And again : when I try to debug I get time out when trying to connect to lpc-link. and freezes at 57%.

I really cannot understand what should I do more.

Below are latest lines from log file dfuApp... :

With UsbView.exe it appears with an exclamation mark on yellow circle

I have tried this too (several times) even before your suggestion. More than that I cannot see in usbview a new HID device when I connect the board. This means that it's no chance to work this way ...

Thank you for pretty good response time . Unfortunately didn't help or we have to do more than this.
What a pity for this effort : NXP+Code REd to keep those seminars + boards + a lot of info and those troubles.

I have spent many hours trying to start this debugger.
I have even tried other board from other colleague - no success.

I'm out of ideas and I'm almost on the edge to give up.

It's there any place to raise a support ticket for this ?

Actually, just connecting the device will not make it appear in any USB viewer - it has to be booted first. So, lets take a step back and get you to try a few things.

1. Connect your LPC-Link board. If you have a baseboard, remove it.
2. Open a command window
3. cd <install>/bin/Scripts
4. bootLPCXpresso hid
5. ..\crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp -infor-emu -wire=hid
Is anything reported? If yes, then you have a working board and can run and debug applications. If not, continue
6. Disconnect and reconnect the board from your PC
7. bootLPCXpresso winusb
8. ..\crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp -infor-emu -wire=winusb
Is anything reported? If yes, then you have a working board and can run and debug applications. If not, report what you see in usbview in both instances.
