Hi,
Some of the debugging options within the IDE has stopped working without any reason.
E.g. The buttons Resume, Suspend, Step Over, Step Into etc are no longer highlighted and cannot be clicked/used.
Only "Run to Line" optionn works or is possible to be used.

Restarting the LPCXpresso IDE did not help.

Has this problem been seen by someone ever?

Sorry, but this is not a problem we have seen reported before. Which version of LPCXpresso are you using? Have you tried deleting your launch configuration and starting again?

Thanks.

Launching a new debug configuration did not help.

But making a new project with a new workspace and launching again with new debug configuration solved the problem.

Hi guys

I have the same problem. Debug buttons (step, continue, stop etc) gets disabled accidentally, but I still can use "Run to Line" popup menu, so it seems that it is stupid bug in IDE. It happened two times to me. It is very annoying to re-create the whole workspace and all related projects every time. Are there any works on that issue?

I'm having a problem with 7.6.2, Linux version using Red Probe on LPC1114FBD48

Aside from being a lot slower than before while debugging the main issue is the editor keeps dying. As in some keyboard keys stop working in it. Things like arrow keys, backspace, delete, return. I can exit the program and restart and then it's happy again for a while, it's just frustrating when you're trying to get a job done and keys stop responding.

This must be a problem with your environment, as the underlying Eclipse (which provides editors etc) has not changed from 7.5->7.6. Have you got any other plugins?

Regarding Debug, apart from the improved download performance introduced in v7.6, the debug driver has not changed either.

We certainly are not experiencing any issues, and we have not received any other reports of such issues.

Are topic starter's and my mesages not issue reports? If not, please let me know how I can report that issue if migrating to 7.6.2 will not help?

If you guys do not consider that problem as an issue then I will have to switch to pure Eclipse with HW debugger plugin and OpenOCD. As I wrote it happens to me two times and I do not like to re-create the whole workspace with a number of projects every time some buttons in IDE gets disabled.

The same problem with 7.6.2. I use Windows version with LPCLink v1 but the same problem was with Red Probe too. How can I report it as issue?

Ok, as I understand it is not an issue for you. We have several licenses for older versions of LPCXpresso and had no problems, but in this case I think we have to switch to opensource solutions because at least we have ability to fix bug by ourselves. In case of your new versionj of IDE we can not fix it and so we do not want to pay for been ping-ponged to Eclipse community. Is LPCXpresso your product or not? Should we pay for buggy SW?

It is not serious guys ))).

Unfortunately I have no time to dig into this problem. I can only send the info you need. If you need.
In any case this is not my problem. My problem is stable and comfortable IDE for debugging LPC4337 and it will not be LPCXpresso 7.x.x. at this moment. I do not see the sense in buying comercial product and waiting for non-comercial bugs to be fixed by enthusiasts.

BTW. Can not you fix "pure Eclipse" bug which is pointed by your link above?

If you can give us a recipe to reliably reproduce the problem, then we will investigate further. But at the moment we haven't been able to reproduce.

The other thing to note is that I believe that you do not need to recreate your projects. I believe from other reports that if you create a new workspace, then you can just import your projects in from your old workspace.

seems we have the same problem here.

One system works flawlessly, on another system LPCXpresso fails every second hour: On "Debug" everything seems to start up successfully -- even semihosted debug-output appears in the console, but debugger controls [pause|resume|stop..] remain grayed out (so it's impossible to e.g. resume after a break-at-main..).
Once this happens, it fails for all further attempts!

Workarounds [so far]:

[*]Switching workspaces (sometimes) helps
[*]Creating new workspaces & re-importing projects (usually) helps
[/list]

The main differences between the systems are:
[list]
[*] Failing system runs a Toshiba-Notebook pre-installed windows.
[*] Failing system is member of a Windows Domain which is "remote" (low bandwidth, high latency) attached.
This is mentioned as this makes the 'msys'-binaries horribly crawl. (It appears that each launch of an external command takes ~5s talking to the DC -- so a "make clean" takes 5s for a 4 file "helloworld").
Although I worked around the delay by running LPCXpresso in a 'local user context', this did not help with graying-out issue.

Could you post the log file ([workspace]/.metadata/.log) as an attachment to see if that offers us any clues.

If anyone else tries this, please can you move the "org.eclipse.debug.ui" directory rather than deleting it. And then if the controls come back, please zIp up and post your moved "org.eclipse.debug.ui" directory.

Like mentioned in a previous reply i always created a new workspace and a project.
After this it worked normally (i can debug my project).
But this procedure is a little bit annoying.

So i wanted to know if something happened to this problem? And what was the solution?

I am running on Win7 (x64), the projects are saved local.

-> Closing all perspectives, and restarting LPCXpresso, solves it for "us" (until next hit :) ).

I'm currently pretty busy, but didn't "forget" this issue. In fact, in the past it only happened on a buddies system, since last upgrade of LPCXpresso -- it happened to me for the first time. (saved the workspaces, i can reproduce the situation at least)
