Content originally posted in LPCWare by galmiklos on Thu Oct 03 11:22:36 MST 2013
My LPC1769 LPCXpresso board has just arrived, but I had a hard time making it work on my Windows 7 laptop. I tried on a Linux machine and a Windows XP box, and it works fine there. Here's what happens.

When I plug in the USB cable, the "USB Device with DFU Capabilities" driver is successfully installed, and appears in device manager.

If I understand correctly, the first time I try debug, the LPC-link driver should be installed, at least that's what happens in XP.

But in Windows7, instead of having the LPC-link driver installed, I got a pop up window saying: "Device does not support download"

and eventually the debug session times out.

Please, see below the "boot log".

*****************************************************

Content originally posted in LPCWare by galmiklos on Sat Oct 05 08:03:06 MST 2013
I removed the device driver following the instructions from Microsoft. Then, I re-installed LPCXpresso, but nothing changed.

I tried installing LPCXpresso on another Windows 7 laptop, and it works there, so it is obviously something messed up on this laptop.

I don't fully understand how LPC-link works, but I suspect it doesn't have any firmware on it, except for the boot loader (that provides the DFU functionality), and when you launch debug in LPCXpresso the first time, the LPC-link firmware is downloaded to the board to the RAM, and it runs from there. On this problematic laptop it seems, there is not even an attempt to update that LPC-link firmware to the board, so LPCXpresso will not find the debugger.

Is there any log file you could look at to see why the firmware update does not take place? I would be more than happy to upload it here.

The two files you will find in C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_6.1.0_164\lpcxpresso\bin.

This was tested only on Win7 32bits ;-)
