Why only Windows code?

I was a little surprised to see the LPCxpresso toolkit built from open source tools like gcc/binutils and eclipse, yet running only on Windows. NXP, why don't you build a version for Linux as well? You [I]must [/I]be aware that software like Eagle is available on more platforms than LPCxpresso, and that the software you use can easily run on those other platforms as well.
My objective phrasing here is a sign of respect, but should not be interpreted as openness to this silly platform restriction :)

It is true that the IDE and compiler are based on open source tools that can be run on other platforms.

However, the debug driver (both the device drivers and the code that understands how to debug the chip over USB) is proprietary and Windows specific.

NXP and Code Red are currently discussing how best to resolve this.

Even I was wondering why there is no Linux support.
I ask this everywhere where I see just one or two proprietary OS support.
Let us not grow up with just one.

And please let us have it in 64-bit Linux too.

Since you are looking for USB-level support with proprietary code (that's probably where licenses are enforced, making it non-negotiable) you will want to look into libusb for Linux -- unlike a kernel module, it will isolate you from kernel version changes and the kernel won't be tainted by a closed driver.

+1 for libusb. I am at a dead end with the HIDROM project right now, because I cannot see what the host is doing.
