lpcxpresso install fails

error during license vailidation: null

I tried both version 3.4.6 and 3.5.0. Both behave the same way

What OS are you running? And is it running natively, or under a virtual machine?

Have you ever been able to successfully start up LPCXpresso on this machine? If you have ever started it successfully, did you go through the activation process?

Are you logged in as an administrator? If not, then do so.

After you try and fail to start LPCXpresso, please can you navigate to the ".metadata" subdirectory of the workspace directory that you selected, and attach the ".log" file you should find there to this thread.

Finally can you please check the directory where the license file will be place and see what the access permissions are.

[*]On Windows XP, the location of the directory is %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\, where %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is an environment variable whose value is typically "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users"
[*]On Windows Vista and Windows 7 the location of the directory is %PUBLIC%\, where %PUBLIC% is an environment variable whose value is typically "C:\Users\Public".

Check the access permissions of this directory. The license will actually be stored in a subdirectory called LPCXPresso. If this exists, then check the access permissions. Basically you need to ensure that the directory is writtable by the user running the tools. If the LPCXpresso subdirectory doesn't exist, then I would suggest creating it - and see if that helps.

thanx for the reply

the winOS is windows 2003 (as administrator) running in VirtualBox 3.1.x under Linux Fedora11.
I never got LPCXpresso started successfully. I get to the workspace setup and than it quit with the above error. I tried different workspace folder with no success.

What is the license folder name for Win2003?

I created a folder 'LPCXpresso' in 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users' and no changes it still error with above
msg.

Well the one obvious issue here is that you are using Windows 2003. As documented at the LPCXpresso download site, the IDE is supported on Windows XP, Vista and 7:

Sorry I didn't know. That's too bad.

Really sad actually. I was givin' this wonderful dev kit at
ESC San Jose (back in May) and ever since waiting for the promised linux support to give LPCXpresso a fair shake.

We are a developing everthing with and under Linux.
So for me it was kinda my lucky day to get across the Win2003 virtual disk in the first place.

How much longer do us linux purists have to wait for
the 'backport' ;-))
