LPC-Link2 should be noticeable faster than the original LPC-Link at general debugging tasks. With regards to download speeds, testing here using LPCXpresso 5.2.2 on Mac OS 10.7.5 connecting to an LPC4078 target and flashing 48180 byte image gives:

LPC-Link : <13s
LPC-Link2 : < 6s

Actual speeds will of course depend upon a number of factors including host OS, target MCU and tools version used.

Note that with the current LPCXpresso v5.2.2 release, LPC-Link2 can be used with LPC800, LPC11, LPC13, LPC17 and LPC4078_8x MCUs. Support for other NXP Cortex-M based MCUs is under development - so for example we have been demonstrating prototype connections to LPC43xx this week at the DesignWest show.

OK, this was important information I have not seen anywhere in the LPC-Link2 product information(!)

To close this thread with results:

Measuring a 33.6kB writing time (LPC1769):

Link: 4856 ms
Link2: 3011 ms

So it's about 38% faster in this case.

Documentation is a shame, no official schematic, no hint about usage of JP2 and what for are all these connectors...
