IDE 5.1.2 Sudden debug problem

Error in final launch sequence
Cannot start StubMsgServer service: ImageRegistry key already in use: lpcxpresso_16x16

This is an extremely usless message for the end user (I'm sure it is clarity itself to Code Red).

So: What does this mean? I.e. why is this key in use (I checked and the debug processes are NOT still running)? How shall it be 'released'.

Obviously, I will try closing and re-opening the IDE, but I think we are entitled to an answer to this.

BTW: I have been given to understand the LPCXpresso does not use the registry.

Also, this is XP Pro/SP3.

but I would still like to know what went wrong.
In order to minimise the risk of it happening again.
