Content originally posted in LPCWare by lpcxpresso-support on Tue Feb 23 02:00:43 MST 2016
Update : 23rd February 2016
With the release of LPCXpresso IDE v8.1.0, the remaining Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan issue - the failure of LPC-Link1 probes to boot - has now been resolved. The use of Mac OS X 10.11.3 or later is recommended.
Older information
General LPCXpresso IDE behaviour running under Mac OSX 10.11 El Capitan is as per using Yosemite. And LPC-Link2 debug probes with CMSIS-DAP firmware operate without problems including the LPC-Link2 probes built into LPCXpresso V2/V3 boards.

However, we are currently investigating a number of USB related issues detailed below. The LPCXpresso team is actively working to address these issues and will post further information when it becomes available.

LPC-Link1 probes fail to boot:

In fact, the LPC-Link1 probe does boot, however the OS fails to recognize and re-enumerate the new device.

To work around this problem you can:

connect the Link1 probe to the Mac via a powered hub.

use the GUI icon or Command line script to boot the probe

disconnect the hub from the Mac for a second or so and reconnect
The booted LPC-Link1 will now appear and can be used to debug as usual. Provided power is maintained to the LPC-Link1 device, the soft loaded firmware will continue to run.

https://www.lpcware.com/content/faq/lpcxpresso/booting-lpc-link

Red Probe+ is not recognized by the LPCXpresso IDE

Currently we have no work around for this problem, and we would recommend that you consider switching to using an LPC-Link2.

*UPDATE*
In the lastest release of OSX El Capitan (currently 10.11.2), this problem has been addressed and Red Probe+ works as before.

LPCScrypt fails some operations

*UPDATE*
The latest release of LPCScrypt v1.6.0 now works out of the box with OSX El Capitan.

In versions of LPCScrypt prior to v1.6.0:

The LPCScrypt bulk data transfer mechanism is failing on the host side leading to errors of the form:

LPC_Error dataBurst Timeout 0xe 0xc8
Error: <Command line>:1: dataBurst Timeout 0xe 0xc8
   Script cmd: program …..
   Last target cmd: =databurst …..

This will impact operations that transfer larger quantities of data such as program and verify.

To workaround for this problem you can reduce the size of bulk transfer operations using the -m switch, where 200 is the maximum safe value. For example:

bin/lpcscrypt -m 200 program path_to_bin SPIFI

Note however that scripts provided within LPCScrypt such as programCMSIS and programJLINK will also exhibit this problem. These scripts can be manually edited as described above.

Note also that on Mac's, LPCScrypt automatically installs into the Applications directory. Editing files within this directory required Administrator privilege.
