Hi,

I'm using the LPCXpresso IDE and if I want to add a word to the spell checker's dictionary it suggest to add a user dictionary. I click OK and I get the [B]Preferences[/B] dialog with the [B]Spelling [/B]page active. Here I can see the following message:
[COLOR=RoyalBlue][B][I]The selected spelling engine does not exist[/I][/B][/COLOR]

Can someone tell me what is missing or not properly set / configured?

Probably I have made an incorrect search.

Anyway, if I'm right, a standard Eclipse installation contains a spell checker plug-in. Was it intentionally removed from the LPCXpresso IDE?

Actually I have found an eSpell plug-in, but when I tried to install it the IDE was complaining about the missing [I]org.eclipse.pde.core[/I] plug-in. I have found that PDE is available at the Callisto Discovery site, but it can not be installed because it is not signed.:confused:

Is there a solution for this? Are there anyone who has successfully installed any kind of plug-in for the LPCXpresso IDE?

There is a workaround for this:
Export your Eclipse preferences (File > Export > General > Preferences).
[LIST=1]
[*]Open the exported file in a text editor
[*]Add the following line to the end of the file:
/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/spellingEngine=org.eclipse.cdt.internal.ui.text.spelling.CSpellingEngine
[*]Save the preferences file.
[*]Import the preferences back into Eclipse (File > Import > General > Preferences).
[/LIST]

Hi,

Thanks for your kind reply and support. Unfortunately the process you have described did not solve the issue. I still not able to define a user dictionary, since there is no configuration options are available on the spelling tab.

Note: Tried this workaround with LPCXpresso 3.6.2 and Win7 Pro 32-bit.
There's a little typo (additional space in sp:mad:elling).

Added:

/instance/org.eclipse.ui.editors/spellingEngine=org.eclipse.cdt.internal.ui.text.spelling.CSpellingEngine

and spelling options are available

I'm afraid I have made a mistake earlier and did not exported and imported all the preferences. That's why it was not working.

As soon as all preferences were exported and imported with the code provided by you it is working fine.

Thank all of you for your kind help.

(I'm currently using 3.6.2 on a 32bit XP. In the evening I will try it on a 64bit Vista as well.)
