I have a variety of projects like

1. usb keyboard.
2. multi timer with usb interface
3. audio controlled switch
4. CAN controlled switch

I want to use a low end cortex lpc13xx or 17xx.

Location does not matter.

mbed guys had success using vWorker, you could try that too.
